The Association of Tibetan Journalists is an independent non-profit making organisation whose aims are to: Facilitate free, fair and accurate delivering of information regarding activities relating to the Tibetan community, both within and outside of Tibet. Function as a monitoring agency of the Tibetan Government in Exile, regarding the democratic processes implemented. Ensure the welfare and professional indemnity of Tibetan journalists within their professional jurisdiction.
Objectives:
1. To support the needs of Tibetan journalists in providing a professional level of journalism.
2. To protect the democratic right of freedom of speech.
3. To bridge the gab between the government and the people through the dissemination of information, and by providing a forum for discussion on issues of national interest and other related activities.
4. To inform the scattered Tibetan community of the evolving strategies of our freedom struggle.
5. To provide fair and accurate news of the situation and developments within Tibet.
6. To promote dialogue between Tibetans and other cultures.
7. To carry out research and analysis on Tibetan issues.
8. To provide training in various fields of communication technology.
9. To function as the centralised advertisement agency to disburse advertising and other paid notices in Tibetan media outlets. (to be discussed in the next meeting of the ATJ)
10. To inform and make available to members and concerned others government press releases and information which are of national interest.
